The theme for 2026 National NAIDOC Week is '50 Years of Deadly'.

This year's theme marks a milestone and is a is a marker, not just of time passed, but of the momentum still building. It’s proof of what our people build when culture leads and community comes first. NAIDOC belongs to mob. It always has.

The Competition

We invite students to take part in the NAIDOC Week 2026 School Art Competition! Winners of each category will receive a certificate and a book, and an invitation to a special award ceremony. 

All entries will be displayed at The Rocks Discovery Museum and on The Rocks Discovery Museum website from 1 - 31 July 2025 in celebration on NAIDOC Week (5-12 July). Winners will be selected by Student Learning Adventures, The Rocks Discovery Museum and an Aboriginal community representative.

Categories

  • Kindergarten to Year 2
  • Year 3 - Year 4
  • Year 5 - Year 6 
  • Year 7 - Year 9 
  • Year 10 - Year 12

Requirements

  • Artwork must relate to the National NAIDOC Week 2026 Theme '50 Years of Deadly'
  • Students must include a brief explanation to accompany their artwork (a word document is fine)
  • Entries must be submitted online. All artworks will need to be scanned or photographed and submitted via the portal. See instructions on how to photograph or scan your artwork here.

Entries will close on Sunday 1 June.
