This Art & Culture Month, discover the electrifying world of performance poetry at Australian Poetry Slam 2025 – The Election Special. See local poets battle with words, rhythm, and raw truth for a chance to represent Sydney at the National Final at the Sydney Opera House.
The Australian Poetry Slam (APS) is giving the bullhorn back to the bards. Join the nation-wide search for the people’s poet this Art & Culture Month in The Rocks - whether you're a performing poet or just a lover of words, you're invited to be part of the show, so settle in and cheer on the bards as they compete for the glory.
Local poets get two minutes to wow with their ideas in the form of spoken word, and the audience sends two of these writers to represent The Rocks in the Sydney Final. Who will make it to the NSW Final? You decide! Elect a Poet - A National Slambassador for 2025 who will win a prize worth $20,000, including publication and a tour of Austral-Asia, sharing their creative thoughts and inspiring people everywhere to speak their own poetry.
This event will be hosted by DEFNE, a queer Turkish-Australian multidisciplinary artist and the host of West Side Poetry in Parramatta. Joining her on stage are poets Adara Enthaler, host of Enough Said Poetry Slam in Wollongong, and Dai Moret, a Brazilian bilingual poet, performer, MC, model and artist.
