Self guided art tour, Old Spaces

Old Spaces is a project that documents spaces in mostly Sydney, Australia. The aim of the project is to unearth local history and re-animate the forgotten stories attached to these sites.
The project is inspired by the development boom in Sydney with replacement of historical buildings for high-rise apartments.

Some stories include the iconic neon advertising signs on William Street in the 1960’s and the construction of Kings Cross tunnel, the first major tunnel in Sydney.

About the Artist
Nancy Liang is a Sydney-based artist whose work focuses on the night tales of urban landscapes, city streets and the often forgotten places of suburbia. She represents these subject matters using drawing and kraft paper cutouts arranged in the visual form of a diorama. Her practice spans across a variety of mediums such as animation, illustration and installation.
