Worth waking up for: The Best Eggs Benedicts in The Rocks
The Rocks Café
If you like hollandaise sauce, you’re going to love The Rocks Cafe. Inside this historic 1867 building in the heart of The Rocks they serve serious brunch food and coffee to diners in cosy booths and an airy al fresco area.
But the best thing about The Rocks Cafe is their hollandaise heavy menu. There’s a perfectly executed eggs florentine (eggs benny + spinach), an eggs benny with a thick slice of double smoked ham and a salmon royale (eggs benny with salmon and capers instead of bacon).
Pancakes on The Rocks
Eggs Benedict is supposed to be served with English muffins, but hear us out. Pancakes on The Rocks do a version with pancakes instead of the usual muffins and it’s just as good as the real thing.
This beautiful brekky features buttermilk pancakes with two runny poached eggs, a crispy hash brown, two bits of crispy ham and of course - luxurious hollandaise sauce. The pancakes are similar enough to muffins that you can tell it’s eggs benny, but different enough that it feels like something completely new.
Guylian Café
Guylian Café are famous for their chocolate cakes, decadent waffles, ice cream and rich hot chocolates. But they also do a phenomenal breakfast.
Visit in the morning for a serious barista-made coffee and one of several Aussie brekkie classics. Skip straight to the best and order their eggs benedict - a perfectly executed classic featuring carefully poached eggs on toasted sourdough with Tasmanian smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce. Or if you fancy trying something new, go for the waffle benedict, which swaps toast for waffles and salmon for caramelised bacon. Yum.
