About Brook Emery:
Brook Emery holds a PhD in Creative Arts from the University of Newcastle and has published six collections of poetry: and dug my fingers in the sand (Five Islands Press, 2000); Misplaced Heart (FIP, 2003); Uncommon Light (FIP, 2007); Collusion (John Leonard Press, 2012); Have Been and Are (Gloria SMH, 2016); Sea Scale: New and Selected Poems (Puncher and Wattmann, 2022. His books have won the Judith Wright Calanthe Prize at the Queensland Premier’s Literary Awards, been shortlisted three times for the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards, and once for the Western Australian Premier’s Award, and placed second in both the Ann Elder and Mary Gilmore Awards. Individual poems have won the Bruce Dawe National Poetry Prize, the Newcastle Poetry Prize, the Max Harris Literary Award, and the Denis Butler Memorial Prize among others.
