Back by popular demand! Jazz Sessions is bringing its unique magic for an extended stay from April to September. Prepare for a Thursday evening filled with soulful melodies, delectable cocktails and unforgettable ambiance.

Each week, homegrown talent from the cool and creative world of Australian jazz will take the stage under twinkling lights and captivate you on a sonic adventure. This new program is curated by SIMA, who are passionate about presenting the most unique, exciting and diverse jazz. 

Mingle with your mates, catch up after work or make new friends as you connect over refreshing cocktails from Hickson House.

Jazz Sessions is free to attend, so you can unwind and enjoy the music each week without breaking the bank. It’s the perfect after work activity, pre or post dinner treat. We will go ahead rain or shine. Join us outdoors under the stars at The Rocks Square, or just a 2 minute walk away at 6-8 Atherden St in the event of wet weather. 


Program:

  • 6pm: Jazz Sessions Opens - Come in and take a seat 

  • 6.30pm - 7.15pm: First set 

  • 7:15pm - 7:30pm: Break

  • 7.30pm - 8.15pm: Second set 

  • 8.30pm: Jazz Sessions closes

Bernice Tesara Trio
Bernice Tesara is one of Sydney’s select trumpet players with a fresh and engaging take on jazz. A recent graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium, Bernice has played with nationally and internationally recognised artists, as well as managing projects of her own such as the Return of the Bern and Canines and Dragonflies. Her warmth of trumpet tone, ability to take the audience on a journey, and inspiration drawn from versatility makes her a unique musician to follow.

Aaron Flower and Kate Wadey

Aaron is a celebrated guitarist from the Central Coast, and winner of the 2007 National Jazz Award and finalist in the 2013 Freedman Jazz Fellowship. Experience the magic of his passionate artistry as he joins forces with the captivating Kate Wadey. Together, they will perform beloved jazz standards and some exclusive previews from hteir upcoming album.

Leah Berry
Leah Berry's voice is a warm embrace, a velvet tapestry woven with stories and improvisational brilliance. A rising star in Sydney's vibrant jazz scene, Leah captivates audiences with her deeply expressive interpretations and lyrical finesse. Currently honing her craft at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, she draws inspiration from the legendary voices of Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae, and Sarah Vaughan.

Zodiac Quartet

Zodiac is a collaborative four-piece band gathered from Sydney's vibrant music scene to create a sound rich with passion and storytelling, deeply inspired by their Asian-Australian experiences. Featuring Jordan Chung on piano, Hinano Fujisaki on tenor sax, Sabine Tapia on double bass and Manson Luk on drums, the ensemble is deeply rooted in the creativity and freedom of contemporary jazz, where each member holds a unique voice.
