Experience the powerful and monumental works of Julie Mehretu, one of the most significant painters of her generation, at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia this summer.

Exclusive to Sydney, this major career survey is first exhibition dedicated to Julie Mehretu to be shown in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. Part of the Sydney International Art Series 2024–25.

Drawing on histories of art and architecture, Mehretu’s speaks to urgent contemporary issues such as revolution, migration, global capitalism and climate change. 

The exhibition includes over 80 works including paintings, prints and drawings. Focusing on new and recent works from the mid-1990s to the present, some works have never been seen before, with 13 new paintings created especially for the exhibition.
