A Leichhardt icon reimagined by the harbour, Grappa The Rocks brings over 26 years of old‑school Italian hospitality to one of Sydney’s most historic dining addresses.

Established in 1999 by Charlie Colosi and his father Antonio, Grappa has long been known for its generosity — genuine service, comforting Italian food made from scratch, and a deep love of good wine shared at fair prices. Now, led by Charlie and his wife Virginie, that same spirit comes to life inside a heritage sandstone building at 107–109 George Street, once home to the original Rockpool.

Everything that made Grappa famous remains at its core. Pasta, pizza, bread and desserts are made in‑house every day, grounded in Italian tradition and elevated by premium Australian produce. A wood‑fired oven and custom grills bring bold, familiar flavours to seafood, meats and vegetables, while much‑loved classics sit comfortably alongside new dishes inspired by the harbour location.

Upstairs, Charlie’s Bar sets the tone for aperitivo hour with cocktails and a dedicated bar menu. Outside, al fresco dining with Harbour Bridge views adds an unmistakably Sydney touch. For special occasions, private dining rooms and event spaces offer an intimate yet relaxed setting for celebrations, weddings and corporate gatherings.

The wine cellar is a defining feature, home to more than 300 Italian and French labels, alongside a standout collection of over 150 types of grappa — one of the most extensive lists in Australia.

Grappa The Rocks is all about long meals, good conversation and feeling instantly at ease — like a night in Italy, without leaving Sydney.
